Rati

Rati Monique Howley is an Australian trained Osteopath, graduating from a 5-year double degree; Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy) and Master of Osteopathic Medicine; from the University of Western Sydney.

Rati has been practicing in several clinics in the South Coast and Sydney and working in the field of natural health for the past 18 years, most recently in Osteopathy.

Rati’s Focus

Rati is trained in all areas of Osteopathy, with special interest in migraine/headache, digestive complaints, women’s health, babies and children, acute and chronic pain, stress reduction through breath re-training, lymphoedema post-mastectomy, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, osteo-arthritis-related pain and general health optimisation.

Rati’s Training

Prior to graduating from the Degree in Osteopathic Medicine, Rati began her formal training in bodywork therapies, after completing Secondary School. Her studies included Acupressure, Swedish, Therapeutic and Sports Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Small business management and supervised clinical training. For her external clinical placement, Rati treated elderly patients in a retirement home.

Rati completed Certificates in Touch for Health (Kinesiology) and Kinergy (Kinesiology) and additional massage courses such as Kiradjee massage.

Over a 5-year period, Rati completed a Diploma in Zen Shiatsu Therapy, Certificate in Somatic Shiatsu Therapy, Certificate in Advanced Somatic Shiatsu Therapy and Advanced Diploma of Wholistic Counselling. This training included Oriental Medical Theory and Diagnosis, Zen Shiatsu Acupressure Therapy, Oki Yoga and Macrobiotic Diet and Lifestyle training, Emotional Release Technique, Counselling, Anatomy and Physiology and supervised clinical practice. In addition, Rati was an assistant teacher to the practical Shiatsu classes.

Rati became interested in subtle ways of treating the whole person, during her training in Somatic Shiatsu Therapy, which led her to study Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST) and Somato Emotional Release (SER).

Rati is undergoing post-graduate training in Osteopathy in the Cranial field, Biodynamic Osteopathy and Paediatrics, and general osteopathic technique..

Additional Training and Experience

Rati trained in Classical Middle Eastern dance as a teenager. She taught group classes to women and girls of all ages, in the South Coast, Canberra and Sydney. Her passion in teaching was to inspire women and girls to feel empowered, beautiful and graceful, regardless of their age, size or shape. Ancient philosophy was passed down in the class, including using the movements of the dance to encourage freedom of movement through the pelvis to ease the pain of menstruation and childbirth.

Through experiencing various health problems since childhood, Rati became an avid reader of treating the body through diet, nutrition and natural therapies. This led her to a strong interest in healthy eating and vegetarian cooking. At the completion of high school, Rati taught cooking classes in local community centres and worked as a cook in health food restaurants.
