Dr Tara Walker

Sharon Franklin

Tara graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and a Master of Osteopathic Medicine. With clinical experience in the Northern Rivers and on the Gold Coast, she is a committed and compassionate osteopath tailoring her treatment to the individual needs of each patient.

Tara’s Focus

Tara's treatment style is gentle, meticulous and thorough and she loves to help solve her patient's aches and pains. Tara is passionate about finding the cause of pain and dysfunction and helping to restore optimal balance and freedom of movement. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and has a particular interest in children’s and women’s health.

Her many years of teaching yoga and Pilates have reinforced her fascination and respect for the human body and its ability to heal holistically and have afforded her the skills to give practical take-home exercises and lifestyle advice.

Tara’s Training

Tara's university training included detailed study of anatomy, physiology, embryology, pathophysiology, neuroscience, biochemistry, psychology, nutrition, clinical diagnosis and osteopathic technique (including soft tissue, muscle energy technique, manipulation, indirect technique, visceral and cranial osteopathy).

Tara has furthered her osteopathic learning with courses in obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, lumbopelvic dysfunction and neuroplasticity.

Tara has also completed extensive training in Yoga (Ashtanga, Yoga Synergy, Akhanda Yoga and Rainbow Kids and Family Yoga) and Pilates (Certain IV Polestar Pilates matwork and currently completing a Polestar Diploma of Pilates Rehabilitation).

Before embarking on her osteopathic journey, Tara was a commercial litigation lawyer in a large Sydney firm. After five years of this life, however, she took a leap of courage to follow her passion for health and healing.
